That was just to shock you and get your attention, I know its good. Still, what fields is JHU strong in? I mean the Hospital and Med School overshadow everything JHU has to offer. Is JHU a good school if you want to say become a lawer? How is political science there? Thanks!

when i took the tour at jhu, they said that 100% of their pre-law [is that what they're called?] students get accepted into law school.

International Relations at JHU is among the top few in the country (I think it's number 2)...French is up there too.

Also very good in English/creative writing and philosophy. JHU is a lot more well-rounded than most people think.

actually JHU was no. 1 this year in its graduate program in International Relations(this rating was nothing but i peer assesement though)----i don't technically know how this flows over into the IR undergrad program though-----the school was ranked 13th in the nation for its overall undergrad program(usnews) so i think that would most definitely qualify for being "good for something besides pre-med"---i mean the pre-med program or whatever its called and JHU outstanding BME and other sciences programs could not carry all the weight for JHU to be 13# in the nation ---logically speaking its social sciences and english programs, etc. would have to carry some weight as well

Lacrosse and um baseball :) :)

o yea, dkballs right, jhus amazing at lacross. and their martial arts clubs too. :)

Yes they are also good for Writing Seminars (#1) I believe, public health, BME, and International Relations.....ummmm the romance languages is particularly good as well (mostly im speaking for spanish)

JHU is #1 in the nation in Biomedical Engineering. Basically, when i think of JHU, i think of BME.

All great mentions so far, but since you asked specifically about Political Science, I'll let you in on a little tidbit....

The term "Political Science" was actually coined by a Hopkins faculty member in the early 1900s -- so we are actually the home to Poli Sci.

The Poli Sci and IR programs are fantastic and use the proximity to DC in a lot of ways.

How about Film and Media studies? That's what I applied for.

What about engineering?!?!

So does JHU have a lot of top programs then? I mean I'm not sure what I want to do with my life and I want to go to a school that is good at most things so I have a lot of options when I get there.

From what it seems, JHU offers a great deal of versatility for those who aren't quite sure about what they want to do with their lives. So ya, you'll definately have a lot of options to choose from.

Hopkins has top programs in International Relations, History, History of Art (#7), German, English, Writing Sems, and others... I apologize for not knowning the exact ranking for many of the programs...I keep hearing different numbers. >.<

do they have int'l relations? i thought it was int'l studies.

Isn't it the same thing? Everyone on campus refers to it as IR

I took an astronomy course there two summers ago with Dr. Richard Henry. He said that JHU is the best school for astronomy, namely because of that satellite that JHU developed is up in orbit right now and the Hubble building is right behind campus.

How's their engineering?

good (10 characters)
