I'm asking my newspaper advisor for a letter of recommendation, but was wondering if it would only count as a supplementary.

Journalism at my school's actually a class, counts for UC credit and on my transcript gives me English credits. So is it okay? Do I need to ask a third teacher?

It might depend on what schools you're applying to and for what major. I think they generally like to see your more mainstream subjects, math and science (definitely if applying to any technical field) and then English and Social Studies/History.

As Johnson has advised, I'd call the college for verification. Generally, though, I believe that journalism is not considered an academic subject the way such things as science, math, language arts, history, and languages are.
