Is Madison Just As Good As The Big 5?

If we are going to talk about solely engineering, you need to make that qualifying statement before you say that Michigan rivals the Ivy League. Otherwise it is assumed that you mean overall.

No, I mean Michigan is BETTER in engineering than the Ivy League. It’s probably better in business, pharmacy, nursing, education, music, architecture, etc. than at least half of the Ivy League schools.

The Ivies for undergraduate are, with a few exceptions (Wharton, Cornell engineering, etc) meant for the liberal arts. All of the majors you have quoted above are very professional majors. Don’t sit there and act like you can say Michigan rivals the Ivy League, like you did in an above post, and then later on decide that we are only talking about business, engineering, and architecture. As overall undergraduate institutions, each one of the Ivies is better than Michigan. OVERALL. If you want to pick and choose programs, that’s fine, but until you decided that the only thing that matters is engineering, we were discussing the school overall.

Michigan has higher rated departments overall than many schools in the IL. Fact!
