is management information systems a good specialization?

I was wondering if this was a good specialization in business, but I can hardly find any information about it. I'm going to meet with my advisor tomorrow, but until then can you guys help me out?

I enjoy math and find programming very interesting. Since MIS is offered as a specialization for business, I'd like to further pursue those interests.

I just need to know how widely MIS is accepted and entry level title/salary.

Thanks!

MIS does not involved programmers. MIS is for managing information in the business environment. It’s a good major if you are interested in IT or in any aspect of operations. The main focus of MIS programs is managing and dealing with challenges when it comes to information. It’s not as technical as Computer Science and doesn’t require programming skills (maybe a class or two in java or c++).

MIS is good for a career in IT and it gives a very strong background for IT sales and high-technology product management.
