Is Management Information Systems (MIS) a bad degree to get

I’m sure this has been talked about before, but I’ve seen on a few sites that this major is high paying, and that it will get you a job pretty quickly after graduation. But now I’m starting to hear the opposite from other people, that it’s actually really hard to get a job in this field unless you know someone. Is this true? I just wanted some fresh takes, as I can’t afford to major in something that’ll be a dead end

You will be expected to be a good team player and have demonstrable software skills. Interviews will have tests of your programming abilities. The major itself is not enough.

My oldest is a senior in MIS with a job offer.

Ask your school about job placement. At my school we have great job placement, but that’s because we’re right by a major city where MIS grads are needed. All students get CO-OP and usually work for that same company after graduation.
