High school junior. Took BC Calc and Physics C. Have a very firm grasp on calc. I am considering taking math 2d at uci this summer. Would this be good prep for/make math 53 (which I plan to take 1st semester freshmen year) at Cal easier?

Based on the [catalog description](<a href=“UCI General Catalogue Archives”>UCI General Catalogue Archives), it looks like UCI Math 2D covers part of the material in UCB Math 53.

What you may want to consider doing instead is to use [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) to find a semester system community college in your area which offers a math course which fully articulates to Math 53 or Math 54, so that you won’t have issues with partial coverage between quarter and semester system courses. For example, Coastline Community College Math C280 or Fullerton College Math 250AF.

Honestly, I feel like the parts of Math 53 that 2D covers are not very difficult, and if you did well on BC, you probably don’t need to prepare for that stuff. However, the stuff covered in 2E is much more interesting, and pretty useful also. So I would only recommend taking 2D if you can eventually take 2E as well.
