I was extremely excited to see that I got into Berkeley for Spring 2010, but when I got to the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) I started to worry. I had a 2.83 (17 points total in 6 classes, 1 short of the minimum 3.0) for the first semester, but my weighted GPA was 3.67 because I have 5 AP's. I'm fairly confident that I will get a 3.17 (19/6) this semester at least which will raise me to a 3.0 overall for the year unweighted.

I will be notifying Berkeley soon, but until I hear back from them I'm really going to worry. Will I be ok?

Also, should I just send the letter or would it be useful to call them as well?

Call them up and let them know. It’s less likely since the courses aren’t related to your major. Just show em that you’re working hard to improve your grades.

it says “Complete all senior-year courses listed on your application with an overall unweighted B average for each term and no grade lower than a C”

Just make sure you follow the provisions outlined in your Provisional Admission Contract. If there are any changes or if you get grades lower than a C, notify them asap.
It says you need a 3.0 GPA UW for each term, meaning you need to keep a 3.0 GPA UW average for the semester/quarter (depending on your school’s grading system) that you are currently in.
