I am between writing about a struggle(all my friends abandoning me in middle school), writing about my volunteer experience with mentally disabled people(I kind of hear online that this is a basic topic and should not be written about but idk), or writing about how I originally wanted to be a doctor but now want to major in computer science and how passionate I am about this(also don’t know if this is too generic). I don’t even know if any of these topics are ok to discuss or would make for a good essay. Any advice / direction I could take these essay would be appreciated.
A good essay will tell the reader who you are. So, you will need to do some thinking. Is there a common thread running through your three proposed topics? What is it?
Among what you have mentioned here I like your volunteer experience if you can connect it to who you are and show yourself.
Friendships issues in middle school seem trite by the time you are 18. Writing about flopping around to different majors isn’t enough substance.
I agree with the previous poster to do some thinking and look for a common thread.
