My major is going to be neuroscience (the study of the brain). My mom has suffered 2 traumatic brain injuries: one before I was born and one when I was in 8th grade. She is the person who got me interested in neuroscience because I have lived with her my entire life. Generally, I am going to write about this. Is this a good topic? Does it stand out? Any suggestions?
Sounds great, as long as your essay is mostly about how your mom influenced you and not about your mom. At the end of the essay an adcom should want to admit you, not your mom or her doctors.
