Is my GPA/rank good enough??

I'm about to become a senior in high school and just had hard classes last year that lowered my gpa. My transcript also has a 77 on it from an AP class. My GPA is 3.96 and I'm ranked 81/721 people in my grade. Do you think that is good? Seems 80 people have a GPA of over 4.0. The classes I'm taking senior year are relatively easy but colleges will only see my 3.96 GPA not what I have after these semesters I heard.

I've taken 9 Honors classes and 2 AP's and in my senior year plan to take 1 Honors and 4 AP's (not too hard ones). My SAT score is a 1660 but I am taking it again hoping for a 1800+. Would this get me into a college (WESTCONN) with a large scholarship?

The highest i believe is 4.5 and my weighted is 3.96. I just need a scholarship that gives at least $7500. Would this be possible with these grades? I'm worried D: I think I shoudn't have taken rough classes last year.

Also, if a college gave me like a $4000 scholarship based on my junior year GPA would they check my senior year GPA after 1st semester or when i graduate to see if it went past a 4.0 or 4.1 and give me a higher one? Or does senior year really “not matter”.

Anyone have any thoughts? I’m really worried about this!!

bump…

Actually, colleges do see what classes you are taking senior year (they can tell if you have it easy or are still working hard) but they will not calculate the grades you get into the sophomore/junior year GPA. Your rank is ~11%, which is okay. As for the college Westconn, I’ve never heard of it, but as long as it’s not a super prestigious school like UCLA/UCB your scores should be enough. Getting that SAT up will be very important though. Sometimes schools have inflated GPA, and so the only way that a college can determine if a student is really studious is by using a national standard, the SAT. How well you do on that will play a huge factor in college admissions.

Can you chance me back?

Ok, thanks for the input! Westconn is far from an ivy league or major college. I’m quite sure I’d get in but it costs only about $10000 a year (not -dorm) so I want to get around a $7500 scholarship. I don’t know if that is possible thought with the grades =(

I think you could scout around on google for some scholarships, there are a lot out there, you just have to be patient enough to find the right ones. As for your grades, maybe if you raised the SAT higher, you might get a scholarship depending on if Westconn gives scholarships based on higher scores. Maybe you can do some more research on that school?
