Is my major/minor plan a decent choice?

I will be starting college at the University of Iowa in 2015. I have been admitted to the college of Liberal Arts & Sciences as a Cinema major, with an interest in the Journalism & Mass Communication major (because you can only apply to be in the major after two years in the school). I plan to minor in English, as I really like writing and literature and would like to possibly be an author in the future (plus Iowa City is the #1 literature city in the country!).
My main goal is to work in film as a film editor or director or script writer or producer (almost all of it interests me, but editing more so), so the cinema major is definitely my main one. Journalism & Mass Communications is more so my safe major, as I'm more likely to get a job in it than in film or as an author, and it is still related to what I like. I'm now pondering the idea of bumping up the English minor to a major, as I'd be able to take more writing classes, so that would give me a triple major. All three are Bachelor of Arts, so I'd be able to get a single degree and not have to worry about taking more hours for a second or third degree. I already plan to stay for the summer semesters, and for my course credits to be a little higher than the average, but not anywhere in/close to the 20 hours mark.

I feel that if I major in all three, I will get a broader knowledge of each field than in a minor and be able to use it more so. So, is the idea of a triple major wise considering all three are fields I love equally and sort of tie in together, plus they'd all work to the same degree? Or should I just have one or two majors and one (or two) minors?

To be clear, my current plan is to work on my Cinema major and dip my feet into English (to just assume I will minor, but consider major). I feel that because I have two years before I can start the Journalism & Mass Com major, I will be able to decide what to do about the English. But I have a strong feeling it will be a minor.

Based on looking at the UI website, you would need 105 credits for the triple major. I am not sure if any of them overlap, but that and any other credits you might need seems to be quite a bit to bite off. I think you should make sure to get your Cinema and J & MassComm majors covered and let the chips fall where they may with the English major or minor.
