A bit of background - I’m a computer science transfer major who was accepted to RU NB for the fall semester. I went to talk to my advisor so that I could send my final semester grades to RU. The thing is, I did very poor this last semester. I got an A-, 2 C’s, and a D. My overall GPA dropped from a 3.2 to a 2.9.
My advisor told me RU would not take kindly to the D, even though it was in a subject unrelated to my major. He said that, plus the fact that I was now under a 3.0 GPA might be enough to get rescinded. Do you guys think he’s right? If anyone has any similar experiences and would like to share, I would really appreciate it.
Not to scare you, but I have a connection in the admissions department - they don’t care whether the class you got a D in has anything to do with your major. They care that the D shows that you stopped putting in the effort as the school year came to a close. That doesn’t reflect well on your dedication as a student.
I can’t say whether or not you will get rescinded, but if you’re concerned you could try calling admissions to see if there’s anything you can do to help your situation.
It’s getting harder and harder to get into this school. More qualified students are applying every year who take it very, very seriously, and don’t just decide to stop showing up “because senioritis.”
It’s not a safety school so stop treating it like one.
