Is my rec letter officially late? (Naviance School)

Hi guys,

So I made really stupid mistakes:

  1. I only had one teacher write me a rec for UMich
  2. I didn’t push her hard enough to finish and submit before the deadline (I visited her several, several times throughout the month, but she can be busy)

So for those of you that don’t know, my school uses Naviance to upload recs, transcripts, and other official documents to the school via Common App. My SSR, counselor rec, and transcripts have all been sent. Naviance is supposed to upload rec letters onto Common App almost instantly, although at times there are glitches in the system, and a rec may show up as incomplete, but may have been submitted, or vice versa. But the best way of telling is through Naviance. According to Naviance, my teacher has submitted and completed ALL of her recs. However, Common App isn’t showing that it’s there, and now I’m really scared. None of this is really my fault. I’m calling Michigan to ask them about it tomorrow.

But a few questions:

  1. Is my app now invalid?
  2. Has my rec letter actually been submitted, and CA is just being slow?
  3. What do I do if UMich says they don’t have my rec letter in yet?
  4. Will this impact admissions?

As long as you did your part in submitting the application in on time, you should be fine. Although it wouldn’t hurt to call the school tomorrow.
