I got 620 on critical reading, 610 on math but 450 on writing. I am really confused that is it a good or bad score. I want to go to uconn so I just want to know, that "do i have a chance with these score?"

Well, yes and no. You’re combined reading and math are great for uconn, but your writing is significantly lower than their 25%. I’d recommend focusing on that and retaking it. Good luck!

but im already in my senior year and December SAT have already gone and I have to apply by January 15.Is their any chance i can take it now? and what do you mean by 25%

I’d say that you should check with Uconn and see if they consider January scores. If they do, I’d send in the scores you have now and sign up for the January SAT. Then use one of your free score reports to send your new scores to uconn. I hope it works out for you!

From the UConn web site:

“When reviewing your SAT score, we are looking at your combined critical reading section and mathematics section score. The writing section is not weighted in the application process at this time.”

So it appears that your writing score doesn’t matter for UConn.

Should you decide to apply to other colleges where the writing score is considered the challenge for you is to bring your grammar and writing skills to the point where you can significantly improve your score. January is around the corner – so there isn’t much time left to study. But study is essential. Fortunately writing is the one section for which preparation yields quick benefits. January test dates work for some colleges. So check.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up fogcity, I used bigfuture of collegeboard and it calculated the writing anyway. Well if writing isn’t considered you definitely have a solid chance! I’d recommend if applying to other schools that they also not look at writing scores though. Good luck!

PS - By 25% i meant the lowest 25% that gets accepted. Sorry for not clarifying that.

thankx for clearing that

800 cr 800 m 550 w > 650cr 650m 800w

If you could, retake the SAT and get a higher score. But, since you’re asking this question, you probably don’t have the luxury. I would not worry about it too much, your scores aren’t bad, and scores aren’t everything.
