Hey guys! I've been browsing through the CC forums for the past couple months as a non-member, and finally caved-in and set up and account on here... I'm definitely liking what I've seen so far!
Now, unfortunately, this post is not solely an introductory post; I do have a question as well.

A little while back, I was received the acceptance letter to one of my top-choice colleges. It wasn't but a few weeks later, before the celebration had even ended, that I got another letter from the college informing me of my nomination to compete for a full-tuition scholarship on the basis of Community Service. One of the requirements for this scholarship are for the nominee to submit a 500-word essay regarding one's commitment to community service. Now that I have completely concluded my weeks of hard-work on my essay, I fear that it might have all been in vain: I think my essay might be off-topic! Before I completely give up and start over, though, I feel that I should first get the opinion of the CC community.
The topic of my essay should have been about my commitment to serving my community. My essay summarized my volunteer history and discussed a couple of the lessons that volunteering has taught me. In my conclusion, I DID discuss my excitement about being able to serve my college community. Was this enough? Was my essay "on-topic" enough to satisfy the review community? Or, am I going to have to re-start the entire writing process all over again?

Thanks in advance!
