Is my Senior year schedule rigorous enough for top non-ivy schools?

Is this senior year schedule rigorous enough?

AP Calc AB
AP Gov and AP Econ (Each one semester courses)
AP Physics
Then I leave mid-day to a 4 year university to take:
23307 EALC-C102-02 Elementary Chinese II (First Semester)
24344 EALC-C201-01 2nd Year Chinese I (2nd Semester)
22062 STAT-12500-09I Communicat With Stat (First Semester)
31150 ENG-W233-05I Intermed Expos Writing (Second Semester)

The only AP/Honors Courses I have yet to take at my HS is AP Bio, AP Lit, and Eng 12 Honors.

Should I replace any of the HS classes or college classes with something else?

You should be fine.

A lot of top schools require or strongly recommend 4 years of an English class. I’m not sure if you’re satisfying that requirement. If I were you I would take AP Lit or at least English 12 Honors, and possibly drop Communicat with Stat and Intermed Expos Writing. Also, how many years of Chinese have you taken prior to senior year? If one year or less, why not continue with a language you have already started and save learning a new language for college?

I know that’s why I’m taking Intermed Expos Writing. Does that count as an English credit? I can take other English classes at the college if it doesn’t count like Composition.
I took Chinese 1 already so I just need 2 more semesters in college to get the 3 years colleges recommend.

I’m not sure, you should call up the colleges you are interested in and ask them. It’s kind of iffy because it’s only a semester long class and may or may not meet their requirements. What’s wrong with AP Lit or English 12 honors? Those seem like safer bets.

Have you taken any languages prior to the one year of Chinese?

@jsies11‌

Well one semester of a college class is equivalent to a year long class in high school since the pace is much faster. I can only take 3 classes in my HS if I leave mid-day for college, I really like those 3 classes more than AP Lit.

Uh, I took German 1 freshmen year, that’s it.

You should really ask the schools you are going to apply to about your English requirements since that will remove any doubts. Maybe they can recommend whether you should take AP Lit or your college class. You could possibly take Calc 1 and then Calc 2 at the university instead.

I was just asking because colleges care about how far you get in a language rather than how many years of a language you take, i.e. it would be better to take 4 years of Spanish than 2 years of German and 3 years of French. However, since you can’t take 4 years of a language, Chinese seems like the right way to go!

Well I know all of the colleges I want to apply require 4 years. I really want to take Calc at my HS though. AP Lit and Honors English involves a lot of reading which isn’t my forte, I’m better at writing.

I went to the website of the college for minimum HS requirements and I found this

Applicants must meet these course requirements either in high school or through subsequent college-level (not remedial) coursework. A semester of college coursework is equivalent to two semesters of high school. English includes grammar, composition, literature, speech, and vocabulary, but not journalism, newspaper, yearbook, or theatre arts.

Ok, I would still call the colleges and actually ask admissions which courses they prefer just in case. Better safe than sorry. Assuming your college class meets the 4 year requirement, your schedule is pretty rigorous and I think you have it figured out so good luck!
