Senior Course load

Do you think my senior courseload is too easy for the top, top colleges? My school works in semesters.

AP English Lit
AP Government
AP Physics
Honors Physics (required to take before AP Physics)
Spanish 3 Honors(a lot of top colleges recommend taking at least 4 years of foreign language)
Spanish 4 Honors
Tennis PE (for the tennis team)
Calculus C (at local college)
Fine Arts (required)

Do you think its too easy? A lot of people seem to be taking like all AP courses but im not doing that. I barely took electives and languages in 9,10, and 11th grade so i have to take some of them my senior year.

How are you taking spanish 3 along with spanish 4?

Well, for comparison, I’m taking:

AP English Literature & Comprehension
AP US History
AP Comparative Government/We The People
AP Statistics
AP Biology
Accounting
Journalism

well, my school works in semesters. so, first semester, ill take spanish 3, honors physics, ap lit and ap gov. second semester, ill take spanish 4, ap physics, pe tennis, fine arts, and i’m going to take an extra class at a college. the class at the college counts as an ap class.

Depends on how many AP’s you took this year too, to check if you can handle the schedule. It’s nice that you’re taking tennis PE for the team though. Also, why take two spanish courses at the same time? Doesn’t make much sense to me at least, lol.
My schedules were
Junior Year:
AP Biology
Honors English
AP US History
AP Statistics
AP 2-D Portfolio art
Honors French
Wind Ensemble

Projected Senior year:
AP Physics
AP English
AP 2-D Art Portfolio
AP Macro/Micro Economics
Wind Ensemble
Human Behavior (With AP Psych independent study)
AP French

Just make sure that what you took last year will translate into appropriate classes your next year and make sure you can keep good grades up through the year, of course. Choose courses in context of your past classes to make sure your performance is consistent.

well, is it the toughest schedule at your school? that schedule would be very demanding at my high school but we didn’t have that many AP classes. it all depends on what you choose in the context of your school.

no, its not the toughest. but because i have to take honors physics before ap physics, i have to take tennis pe for the tennis team, and top colleges recommend at least 4 years of language, so im taking spanish 3 (1st semester) and spanish 4 (2nd semester). they are both honors. also fine arts is required. but i get good grades (im ranked 2), so im pretty sure ill get good grades in those classes. all together, i would have taken 10 AP classes (not counting calculus c at local college) out of like 18 AP classes. but ive seen people ake like 7 Ap classes in one year. do you think the colleges will understand a lot of the easier classes i am taking are required for me?

You will have places on your application where you can indicate your school’s restrictions or requirements on AP courses. I wouldn’t worry too much as it sounds as though you are taking the most challenging set of courses available to you at your school, plus a course at the local college. What will you be doing this summer?

im hopefully going to be taking a summer course at a college.

if you’re planning on summer school, a good strategy might be to advance yourself to AP level in Spanish or physics–I’m thinking not just about your admissions, but about your placement in college courses subsequently.
