Is my senior year schedule too hard?

I’m not sure if this is the right section to ask for schedule advice.

Current I have AP Psych, AP Lang, AP Physics 1, AP Stats, and AP US Govt.

  1. AP Calc BC

(Might take calc 2 for free at my community college over the summer to get the feels for calc) (Also have a great teacher)

  1. AP Chem (Great teacher also)

  2. AP Physics C (Another great teacher)

  3. AP Lit (From what i’ve heard the teacher isn’t great and I’m already taking AP Lang. Do I still get credit for a 5 on the AP Lit exam assuming I get a 5 on the AP Lang exam?)

  4. AP Micro/Macro Econ (New AP teacher, but U of M grad?)

  5. APUSH (Alright teacher from what I hear)

The questions I have are

  1. Is this schedule too hard?
  2. Are AP Lit, AP Econs, and APUSH easy to study for if the teacher isn’t great?
  3. What would be a easier AP class than APUSH? because that one is the least interesting to me on my schedule.
  4. Will I be offered AP credit for Lit and Lang at U Of M LSA?

That’s just a waste of time; you’re just duplicating effort.

  1. The schedule is certainly heavy, but it depends on what else you have going on in your life.

  2. I would say yes for econ and lit. Also yes for APUSH if you understand how to answer the DBQ’s.

  3. Yeah, but you need USH to graduate. Might as well take the AP version.

  4. It appears so

@skieurope‌ If I did bad on a community college class, would it go on my transcript? I was going to take the free calc class over the summer so I would be prepared for BC.

Regardless as to whether it goes on your HS transcript, most colleges will want to see any CC transcripts.

OP: The classes you list were taken by both of my kids. They would say it’s a heavy schedule but doable. Did you take 3 years of a foreign language? Other AP classes my kids took included- AP Computer Science, AP Gov, AP Human Geo and AP Art. Also, I’m guessing that you are tending towards Math and Science, correct?

@skieurope ok thank you for the help!

@mybstnw Yeah I will have 6 foreign language credits my the start of next year. I am definitely leaning towards Math and Science, but i also have a high interest for business.

OP: if engineering is a consideration, my kids and their friends would highly recommend Computer Science in high school to get some exposure. I just asked my senior-- she says it’s easier to self study APUSH than Econ and most kids liked Micro better in her high school. She regretted taking APUSH class but did great on the exam.

@BarryYung42‌ if you are able to afford it you could buy ap study guides for your senior year classes and get a head start studying over the summer.

For someone who will be writing supplements and college essays through the fall, yes, this is excessively rigorous. Take a class you are interested in. And if you choose this schedule, you’re gonna regret it second semester when you already get your acceptances and still have 6 classes you must continue no matter what. I’m guessing you want to go into STEM. Drop Lit and AP US. The skills you will learn in Lit are the same you are learning this year and you don’t need another AP focusing on American government and history.
