Debbey, I just did a little poking around for you. I found a few “references” which say that each school has its own grace period for this situation but that most of them have one. Also, there is a comprehensive post here on CC by “geek-mom” (who is, I understand, a knowledgeable member? Sorry, I’m still new…). It’s in a thread called “Common App FAQ 2011”, in case you want to search. Her comments suggest you should be alright. Perhaps you could also contact USC to be sure? I know your heart is probably in your throat right now but I think you’re gonna be okay. :-)

Debbey, As this is the first year that USC has used the common app, and because it IS a west coast school, I’m surer you wont have a problem with your app being 1 hr “late”. Relax.

Common App time stamp is eastern time. With Stanford and likely USC, because the school is in pacific time you still officially have until 11:59 pm pacific time, so 2:59am December 2nd eastern time. I had a momentary panic, then e-mailed Stanford the next day and got an auto response with the time zone explanation. Check tomorrow, but you should be just fine.

Thank you so much, for at least calming my nerves. I would think that a California college would be in PST, but i guess not. -_- I’ll be sure to e-mail the school and ask and search that thread.

Thank goodness! there’s no way I’m going there without a scholarship, so i really needed to be on time! I just freaked out when i saw the time stamp as 1AM

Where you able to find out if they accepted it???
I just submitted my transfer application and had the same thing happen.
Heart was in my throat until Iread this post, which moved it down about two inches.
Everything that could go wrong did! Computer froze, switched to laptop, then while submitting app an error occured which said to contact technical support. Luckily when I logged back in it said submitted. Only problem is the time is eastern time… LMK Jen
