Submitted 12/2/11??

Ok so basically i submitted my apps on 12/1/11 at 9:20 PST, but then on my Common App it says I submitted on 12/2/11 because they use EST. Does this mean that my application is late? USC is in the PST timezone as well so I assumed their deadline was 11:59 PST not EST.

I'm kinda freaking out over this, quick answer would be nice.

You assumed wrong.

So its late? I googled collegeconfidential and it said that most colleges will make deadlines on their own time zones.

Great, the same thing happened to me… :(

On its website it says

USC application deadlines are postmark deadlines. Therefore, as long as an application or other materials are mailed and postmarked by the deadline date, they will be considered on-time. The only exception to this relates to the School of Cinema-Television. Cinema’s deadline dates are “received by” dates, so applicants to these programs should endeavor to mail their materials with ample lead time to account for postal processing.

For students submitting online applications, anything submitted by 11:59 p.m. (Pacfic Time) of the deadline day will be considered “on time.”

So i think we are fine?

we’d better be.

All time stamps are in Eastern Time. Deadlines are also listed in Eastern Time. Schools located in other time zones may accept your documents up until the posted deadline in their local time zone, even though your submission time stamp will be recorded in Eastern Time.

The same thing happened to me! I submitted my materials at 12:06 AM Rocky Mountain time (so I guess 2:06 AM Eastern Time) because I assumed USC would be using PST… I really hope they are…

As mentioned above, The Common App. always uses an Eastern Time time stamp. I was going to put up a thread about it a few days ago, but I was concerned it would just make applicants feel more rushed and worried.

USC’s application has always been due as of 11:59 Pacific time. USC has always been very flexible about these things and I feel very confident that all applications submitted by 11:59 Pacific Time (2:59am Eastern Time) will be considered “on time.”

Most California schools using the common app use Pacific time, and I see no reason USC would be any different. If one (or more) of you email the admissions office and get reassurance about the time stamp, please post to help others feel as confident about it as I do :)

I hope to hear great news from all of you in the Spring! GOOD LUCK!!!

I emailed the admissions office last night, so I’ll post when they respond. I submitted at like 12:02 AM Eastern time, though I really don’t have an excuse since I actually live on the east coast…

For students submitting online applications, anything submitted by 11:59 p.m. (Pacfic Time) of the deadline day will be considered “on time.” – from USC website, FAQs: Dates and Deadlines

Yep, the email I got back said that anything submitted on Dec. 1 Pacific time is on time.

I’d like to repeat this question:

Does it have to be “downloaded” for it to be officially received? I submitted my application on November 30. On the Common App website, I see that my Common App and teacher recommendation were “Downloaded by College” on 12/1/2011. My counselor school report was “Downloaded by College” on 12/2/11. My Supplement has not yet been downloaded.

I received two emails, however, that say my Common App and Supplement have been successfully submitted. Is this a regular occurrence?

If there are green triangles everywhere you are OK :-)
