“epic fail”?? A bit overstated, I think.

oh well its good to know that im one of the 1000 rising seniors, even tho my scores suck

There are about 876 ap national scholars(rising seniors) in the entire nation in 2008. In SC, there were only 4. I am a rising senior in SC, took a total of 9 aps by junior year and got all 5s. So, I will be one of the 4 or 5 ap national scholars in 2009(rising seniors). I hope it will look good in my resume(other stats sat 2330, sat2 2380, act 35, rank 1/396, plenty of science and math awards regional and few national). I hope this ap national scholar award will also help me. Aiming for Yale SCEA. Not bragging but just revealing the facts.

I assume Calc AB and Calc BC count as two separate tests. Is this correct?

Yes, unless you’re referring to the AB subscore of the BC test, in which case no.

The only three kids from my school to get into HYPS were also the only three National AP scholars (prior to senior year) in our year.

I think it helps.

That’s good eating food. I’m really looking at Stanford right now.

Quick question, where would it say on your report if you’re an AP Scholar with Honor? Because I took 3 APs this year and 1 last year, and my grades qualify…

when do you know that you are a national AP scholar? cuz this year, i took 6 AP tests, plus the year before i took two, i got 5s on all of them, cept one 4, so does that mean i am a national AP scholar?

Can someone point me to the link that has the # of rising seniors who have reached National AP Scholar status? Have been looking but not finding…

You’ll get a letter and certificate around September for the AP awards. And somewhere on here is a link to the number of kids receiving awards from each state but I don’t know where it is

Found the link:
Higher Education Professionals | College Board;
Spreadsheet for 2008:
Higher Education Professionals | College Board;

Was able to show S that this was indeed a non-trivial accomplishment.

MightnightBlue: it would be under your awards and honors. In the Common App, it’s under Honors under Academics.

CountingDown - I am looking at your second link and having trouble understanding it.
Let’s look at Alabama, 10th grade, it says 4. Does it mean 4 people have achieved AP Scholar status by 10th grade? If yes, the numbers really do no add up. Help please…

Well, I come from a rural school in NE that offers a total of 7 APs…and you dont start taking them till junior year. Basically, the most rigorious schedule includes 3 APs junior year and 4 APs senior year. So, for me, it is almost impossible to be a national AP scholar because you can only self-study so many APs. However, in schools with 20 APs…national AP scholar is probably almost expected.

Kelowna, yes, by that chart, 4 kids in Alabama were AP National Scholars by the end of 10th grade.

Unfortunately, there are not totals by category for each grade. I did total up all of the 11th grade National Scholars for all the states and there were 836 kids.

You won’t be notified of the awards you earned this year until sometime in the fall, probably in September.
