I need 5 4s and a 1 :) on my 6 AP tests year to get that title. But not like it matter all that much to colleges right? Isn't the scores that count?

every little bit will help and yes it is impressive but it is better to take 5 exams and get all 5’s than take 8 exams and get all 4’s even if the latter would have given you the award

No, it’s really not. Most colleges give you the same amount of credit for a 4 or 5 (some do differ though). Would you rather have credit for 8 courses or 5?

^you’d be surprised at how many of them differ on credit between a 4 and a 5. the point is, it’s better to master a few things that will be valuable to your career than to do everything but be mediocre at it.

For me no. I’ve I pass all of my 8 exams next year it won’t matter, because by that point I should already be accepted in college

Well, I think that getting a National AP Scholar award would look good on your college application (assuming you’re a rising senior) - and if you don’t have any honors or awards, it’s certainly a good addition to the list.
I mean, it IS “National” so it does look pretty impressive.
BUT if you don’t get it, don’t sweat it.
Just because you get 1point off on one of the AP exams doesn’t mean you won’t get into college.
Good luck!

Um you need a 3 min. on ur AP tests to qualify

If my school only offers 3 aps, one of which i’ll take next year and the other two senior year, If I get one of these National AP Scholar awards, which require more than 3 aps, would that be impressive?

^^ It might be impressive to your mom, but your college will never know or care. If you take two of the tests senior year, you won’t receive the award recognition until you’ve already started your college classes.

to motivated - i agree with grizzmom
heck, i’d be impressed too but it wont matter if you get the award after you start college

Yes but what if you got the award senior year, would it make a difference because im self studying 3 AP’ so that i can get it by the end of junior year.

well I should get it this year (my junior summer/senior year). I still don’t think it carries much weight.

I dont think my question was very clear, sorry. If i were to have finished 8 aps by the end of my junior year in my situation ( school only offers 3). would THAT be impressive?

sure, why not. It’s all about the level of strenuity.

i’m kind of confused about how this award works.
so i’m a rising senior, and i’ve made a 5 on AP world history, us history, chemistry, biology, calculus BC, and psychology. next year, i’m taking AP physics, literature, language, german, government, and european history.
do i qualify for any of the AP college board awards? how do i know if i got any of them?

Less than 1000 rising seniors nationwide are National AP scholars. It is a great award to have on your resume (and even more impressive if your school offers few APs and you self studied to reach the 8 required).
To win the award, one must have at least 8 AP exams with an average score of 4 with no score below 3.

Are you sure you can’t have a score below 3? Last time I checked, it’s an average of 4 on 8 or more exams, and that’s it.

Right from the website:

“National AP Scholar
Granted to students in the United States who receive an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.”

I’m sure it would be great to have on one’s resume! Hopefully I can pull it off.

so i’m a national ap scholar… big deal, i got 7 4’s and 1 5. epic fail. i wont get any college credit.
