Is noiteraperp's critical reading method really effective?

im stuck at 570 (even after having given 5 practice tests)…which method should i use to attack cr passages?!

Absolutely. The CR section is the most difficult section to raise. It takes assiduous practice and meticulous review of the tests you took to see score improvement. Have you been reviewing not only your incorrect answers, but also the correct ones as well? Check this post: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1390501-critical-reading-an-analysis-of-right-and-wrong-answer-choices.html#latest

could you please tell me how many practice tests it took you to reach your current score? btw thanks for the link.I’ll practice those techniques over the weekend

Hm, I don’t remember how many tests I took, perhaps 10. My highest was a 650 on the SAT because I knew a lot of vocab. I’d say study a lot of vocab, which should get you in the near 620 range for CR. The rest of the points can be earned through careful analysis and understanding of the passages.

Which vocab list did you use? Is the Kaplan one good?

by the way, thanks for the advice…I improved by 40 points in 2 days  its gonna be tougher now but still thanks

I used the essential 500 words by Larry Krieger for vocab, people also vouch for direct hits which is also
written by the same author. Also, every test you take, make sure you know the vocab from the CR sections.
CB likes to recycle words. If you still want to study more words, you could use spark notes, barron’s 3,500 word list (which I don’t recommend unless you’ve absolutely used up all your resources.) and many other prep vocab books.
PDFS of these could be found online, I’m assuming.
