is it convenient to print for free at Penn (with our own paper) or should we get a printer for our dorm room?
does each residential house have free printing?

no, each residential house has a computer lab with 8 cents per page printing.

I print in computer labs - I have too many pages to print and the kind of printers within my price range break down too easily.

If you're going to be a liberal arts student, and plan to do your reading (which would already put you in a minority), I would say print at your computer lab, your printer will not be able to take printing 100's of pages all the time.

there's free printing at various places on campus (places in the arch, weiss tech house, certain departments - such as the undergraduate bioengineering lab)

do you know if those computer labs are open 24hrs? i've talked with some college students and they said that owning a printer is helpful for those moments of procastination :) where time is short and when the computer lab is closed.

I would say it's good to have a cheap printer and some paper just incase you need to print in crunch time. I had a cheap printer last year and only used it to print homework and papers that were due 10 minutes after i finished writing them. For readinds, notes, and other stuff I used some of the free printing on campus or the computer lab in my building because my printer wouldn't be able to handle 30 pages of chem notes.

the labs in the college houses are not 24 hours unless you can get an ita to keep them open
