I'd like to believe that Penn is a wonderful school of wonderful people, especially now that I've been accepted, but I have to wonder. Many people I know at Penn are miserable, stuck up, or snooty. Or all three. Is this what Penn's students are generally like, or do I just happen to know the rejects of Penn society?

I think all student bodies in top 10 schools are about the same imo. You’ll find your share of stuck up, snooty kids at any elite school.

However, I will say that Penn students on average are more social and outgoing than at the other ivies.

Most people I know here are happy, friendly, fun and down to earth. I like the feeling that I’m surrounded by normal people and not academic freaks, even though most people here are extremely smart. :)

are people socially diverse? will i be able to find more than just the stereotypic “smart kid” types?

Isn’t stuck up and snooty redundant?

And yes, with the second largest undergrad pool in the Ivy League, you will find more diversity than you know what to do with.

isn’t commenting on the redundancy of stuck up and snooty a bit stuck up, and perhaps also snooty? (jk, jk, its whatever)

alright! haha, despite living in philadelphia and having visited drexel university next door countless times, ive never actually set foot on penn’s campus. so im not sure what its like really.

You’ll find people who love it, who are meh about it, and people who are indeed miserable. It also depends on what they are studying (a wharton or SEAS student is more likely to find their coursework a drag, but could still very much enjoy life at Penn).

Is there a lot of interaction between the other philadelphia schools in the area? for example drexel university is right across the street from penn. do the students of the schools have a good relationship or is there hostility?

Classic LSAT flaw scenario:

The OP’s induction is vulnerable to criticism on the grounds that D) it makes a generalization from a sample that is likely unrepresentative of the population in question.

(I couldn’t resist…sue me…get it? Hardy har.)

Penn has around 10,000 undergrads and 10,000 post-grads - you will, as ilovebagels said above, find more diversity than you know what to do with. If you were talking about a smaller or more isolated school, you may have more of an issue, but Penn is neither of those things.

hey @wayward_trojan, congrats on law school!

Plenty of people at the school will be jerks to each other for no reason, but one of my friends at wharton has been dating the same girl from Drexel for years. Another one of my penn friends has also been dating a Drexel girl for years…and she just started grad school at Harvard ;)
