i wouldnt say nothing! less known? probably- but its med school is ranked like 4th in the country. its vet/dental/everything else grad school is also ranked highly. while its nursing school is RLY up there, its engineering and college are a little lower down but still in the top 15 or 20. penns a great school for things that dont involve business as well. you cant say that penns nothing without wharthog

Penn and Columbia are directly comparable CAS wise. For you to say we're nothing without Wharton is like saying your own school blows. Penn CAS is amazing. It is an ivy league school. A fantastic undergraduate business school does not make Penn rank so amazingly everywhere. It helps, but if it were everything people would not be killing themselves to get into CAS, and getting rejected with practically perfect scores etcetc. Even without all the prestigious name recognition people still die to come here. It's just that good. Penn is the party/under the radar ivy. Noone has **** to say about us because we all have lives while still being crazy academically. I've said it before, I'll say it again: If accepted to every school in America I would pick Penn over all of them. I might hesitate a bit with Stanford, but philly owns. So that's that.

I would definately have to say that you have your head up your arse if you think that penn CAS isn't comparable to Columbia.

One could argue that if penn is given a boost by its business school, it is also given an equal and opposite boost by its comparatively lackluster engineering school. So on balance, it's all excellent.

And def890 is gay.

LOL that's plain crap. Yale has a comparatively lackluster business school AND a totally lackluster engineering school (in your standards, apparantly) - but Yale doesn't seem so bad doesn't it?

w.e both are good schools guys stop arguing this is dumb.

your mom goes to college

lol truazn you're the one who started the "let's have a rivalry!" thread

But I agree. Both schools are excellent. Let's all just cheeeeeeel

Umm sorry but forget Penn, even Wharton doesn't have anything on HYPSM. If you look at the Penn ED 2011 thread, you will see kids that have gotten into Wharton with like sub-2000 scores and you would almost NEVER SEE that in any of the early results threads for Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, and MIT.

The University of Pennsylvania, especially Wharton, is a fantastic school no doubt but people on this forum need to get their head out of their *** if they think it's comparable to HYPSM on any level. Come on, every applicant and his brother and sister gets into Penn ED as long as the stats are there...

"you would almost NEVER SEE that in any of the early results threads for Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, and MIT."

Yes you do. Well, not on CC, but if you ask everyone at HYPSM their stats, many will have scores like that. SATs aren't everything evil_asian. Also, Penn rejects/defers many strong applicants ED and RD. Look at the deferred thread and PM some people to ask them their stats. You will see 2300+ and vals who were rejected. Penn is not a joke anymore. Also, have you heard of hooks??

if massive intelligence has any generally negative correlation to social skills and personality, then hyp are "crappier"

It seems as if evil_asian was accepted to HYPSM and now feels slighted by us unworthy Penn kids.

EAD was deferred Yale SCEA and is taking it out on us Penn kids.

Is Penn in Business like Stanford in Engineering?

I think Stanford engineering is like Penn business.

oh, so EAD thinks that even though we were accepted and he was deferred, he's still superior because Penn is SUCH a crappy school compared to YALE

like that's even true??? name recognition only goes so far in my book. i'd easily pick penn over yale. new haven.. ick.

referring to post #24, real mature JohnnyK.

i live in california and no one here thinks penn CAS is comparable to columbia or hypsm. whenever anyone even mentions penn other people think that person is talking about penn state. now when someone mentions WHARTON, everyone knows what that person is talking about. both nationally and internationally penn CAS is lacking in prestige. penn CAS is probably the least recognized ivy school internationally.

I'd still pick Stanford over Penn. If my grades are 4.0 after the frosh year, I'm going to actively try to transfer. I didn't have the ECs or SATs to get into Stanford. My hook for Penn is not as respected at Stanford (or HYP) so it didn't offset my shortcomings in other areas.

what hook did you have venkater?
