Is Pre-med right for me?

I plan on majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in either Biomedical Engineering or Psychology. Although I don't know what my future career will be yet, I know it will involve helping people through the science field. However, I do not want to be a doctor. I also have an interest in business, but I'm not sure where that's headed as well. So I have these questions:

1) Should I go ahead and take pre-med and plan on going to medical school even if im not 100% sure of my career path?

2) What would I do with a biochemistry degree if I don't go to med school?

3) If I'm 2-3 years into college and pursuing a biochemistry degree without taking the pre-med path and all of a sudden, I want to do pre-med, is that possible?

4) Should a biochemistry major take pre-med or is it okay if a biochemistry major does not take pre-med?

Thanks for your help!

didn’t you just say you don’t want to be a doctor?

^does this mean that pre-med is only for those who want to be doctors?

That’s why it’s called “pre-med”.

Also, you do not ‘take’ pre-med. Pre-med simply means that you intend to apply to medical school and are planning to take/have taken the requisite courses (1-2 semesters of math, 2 semesters of English, 1 year intro bio w/lab, 1 year general chem w/lab, 1 year physics w/lab, 1 year organic chem w/lab; some schools may have other recommendations or requirements).

The proper term for you would be pre-health chinaman.
