i live about 20 minutes from RU NB and so if i go i plan on commuting, i was wondering if this is a big commuter school or mainly dorming, and if its still possible to make friends, get involved, and have fun when commuting...thanks :)

The New Brunswick campus is not so much of a commuter school, but there are commuters here, of course. There are a lot of kids dorming here.

You won’t feel out of place. I know a few commuters. If you get involved in organizations (they have an off-campus student association), a club sport, or even Greek Life you’ll have fun. You can also make friends with your classmates if you form study groups and whatnot.

are a good amount commuters thoughh?

It’s a large school so there will be many commuters, although I don’t know how to define “a good amount” in terms of the number of people who commute. But I wouldn’t call it a commuter school since a lot of kids dorm here (even to the point that we had some kids on a waiting list for housing!).

You should check out the Off-Campus Association. You’ll get to meet other commuters.

ohh okay good point, thank you :)

I’ve known a couple of commuters. They’ve said that it takes a little more work to fit in and get involved, but it’s doable.

If by commuter school you mean “Does Rutgers empty out on the weekends because everyone goes home?” then the answer is definitely NOT.
