I've been hearing stories from my friend (he's in Engineering honors, freshman) about how people try to tear down other people and refuse to help others with studying for exams. Is this true?

(Ha ha ha!)

I hear horror stories like this more so in the Ivy Leagues, believe it or not. It means that it’s a competitive school, but I hardly think this actually happens at RU. People might be less willing to outright share you their answers, if anything. There are professors you can ask if you need help - and friends, of course. Usually a bigger and more prestigious school will have a certain touch of callousness; all it means is not to expect much help from stranger-peers.

My son graduated in 2011 with an engineering degree and that was not his experience.
