I just did a free pratice test on sat.collegeboard.com and the math is so simple compared to the ACT?

SAT math only covers Alg II, and only 6-8 questions at that level. ACT math includes 4 trig problems, which are usually taught in precalc (or AlgII/trig). So in that sense, ACT-m is more advanced. However, ACT math problems are more straightforward – they make them simpler than SAT but require you to work a whole lot faster. SAT math requires more reasoning, but allows more time per problem.

The ACT may have 1-3 problems that are a lot harder than any SAT I questions. But the math is easier ~95% of the time. Even the questions on advanced topics are very basic.

I feel like the SAT might have 1 or 2 questions that involved reasoning by algebraic means, while the ACT contains math that is closer to the things that are taught in school…I found the ACT to be slightly easier for me (36 vs 760) but I guess it is just what you feel more comfortable with…

ACT is way easier, its a lot of mid level problems, no tricks: just simple.

I thought the ACT math was harder. It seems to go from easiest to hardest, too, so I was racking my brain trying to remember matrices and proofs on the last 10 or so questions.

ACT Math is much easier, imo. It is a lot more straightforward, like bluebayou said. Most of the test is doing the most basic types of problems from your HS math classes but there a few tricky ones. But on both SAT and ACT you have to make sure you read the question carefully and take your time so you don’t make stupid mistakes (like I did lol).

630 on Sat math
36 on act math
For me (and most people here) the act is much easier. Although the act has problems including pre alegbra, alegbra, geometry, alegbra 2/trig, and precalclus(yes act goes up to precalc, I have seen matrices, conics, and double angle formulas on act) but the act math is straightforward. The sat math has pre alegbra, alegbra, geometry, and alegbra 2, but the problems are really convoluted.

^ I agree with CSMathAsa1994

I have a 670-710 SAT math, but a consistent 36 ACT math… It’s just so much more straight forward, you don’t even have to think about anything. It’s basically just like - do i know how to do this problem or not. the SAT is like - do i know what this problem is asking or not?
