On the schedule, it has him teaching one of the lectures- I actually thought he only teaches 14a in the winter every year. Anyone know if it has always been like this and they take him out in the schedule later on, or is scerri really teaching this fall?

Also, is it better to take 14a in the winter- does it help to avoid the surge of competition in the fall (most kids take it in the fall)?

And how is Scerri, by the way?

Looks like he is. The schedules always change every year, so you can’t always look at the past years schedules. He hasn’t taught 14A in the fall before. He isn’t that bad, but I had him for 20A.

Scerri isn’t teaching 20A in the fall, which he normally does. There are more lectures for 14A this year so he was probably needed.

Yes I took Scerri in the winter my freshman year, and he has always taught 14a in the winter. I suppose this fall is different…

Personally I liked Scerri. Others have had negative things to say about him, but he was easy. He is kind of blunt, but I like it. He only had 1 midterm, so it was a big % of your grade. I hardly ever went to class, but just memorized the coursereader, did all the practice problems, and went to discussions and got an A in both 14a and 14b.

I don’t think competition is really that big of a factor. Every where you go you will eventually run into competition. Take it in winter only if you are worried about adjusting to the college rigor.

In class one time, i remember he kept staring at me because I was always eating in his class. I asked him if he wanted a french fry and he said yeah im starving, and ate it. Another time some girl brought a baby to class and it was cooing throughout the class, and Scerri was like “did someone bring a dog to class?”

Haha thanks for all the replies everyone- and azngamer54, that’s quite funny- I like teachers that are blunt but humorous…better than boring, right? Hm, that’s good because I wanted to take 14a this fall but wanted scerri…I guess everything’s going to work out alright, hopefully if I can get into 14a!!
