Is sleep that important

Okay, so background information:

I got 212 on my PSAT. The night before the SAT I had a varsity track meet that I had to go to, and woe is me the bus broke down and we got home at 2AM. The drive to the SAT took an hour, so I had to get up at 6:30. I got a total of 4:30 sleep,

My score:
650 CR
710 M
620 WR (With an 11 essay!!)

And so I was mad because I want to go Tier 1 college, and I pulled out the blue book AND the official practice test for this year
My scores (1 yesterday, 1 today)

Bluebook:
760 CR
740 M
770 WR (Assume 11 essay)

Official Practice test:
CR: 740
M: 740
WR: 800!!! (Assume 8+ essay)

Attribute this to sleep or to the tests being too easy? I need to know if I should spend the next 5 months rigorously studying or if this is a venerable score.

Because, for instance, for the 620 WR + 11 essay I would have had to miss 19-20 questions.. but on my practice test I missed 1.

sleep is very important and you can definitely attribute part of your poor first test to that issue, but people generally score higher on practice tests than they do on the real thing. I was in the 2270-2300 range on practices and I got a 2240 on the real test. the best thing to do would be to take 5 or 6 practices in the weeks before the actual test. if you’re in the score range you want to be without studying, you don’t need to study 5 months in advance but you still should prepare in the weeks immediately before the SAT.

You need sleep for the two nights before the test
