Is texas-austin for me?

I've been a bit concerned lately about people telling me how utexas-austin is a "party school" and how everyone who goes there parties on a regular basis. Would I be able to fit in as a student who doesn't party, drink alcohol, or smoke?

Look, at UT Austin, you have 30k people. That's THE LARGEST single campus in the US. Surely on the largest campus you can find at least 100 other people who have similar interests as yourself. Don't worry if you don't like to party; you'll be able to find people you like in a campus with in excess of 30k students.

Actually I think there are 37k undergrads and around 15k grad students, but that furthers the point. You can not drink/party and still have a ton of fun here.

lol yea I used to think that. But what those people say are true. I dont party, drink, or smoke.. yet UT is my top choice =]

There are 50,000 people. You will find people you like no matter what you are in to.

Not everybody drinks--that's just not true. Many people don't party yet still have a good time.

Also, I have friends who chose schools based on the lack of alcohol, only to get to school in the fall and learn everyone parties all the time. People drink at every school and people dont drink at every school. Thats how college is. You can find people who dont party hard, and i'm sure you will.

I'm a native Texan and have had A LOT of friends go to UT.

They're all pretty dedicated to their academics, but have found ways to have fun outside parties...UT is so HUGE that there are a gajillion different clubs or activities going on, and you're bound to find one you like.

And yeah, they sometimes go to some of the tamer parties, and even then they don't have to drink to have fun.

You're not going to be lonely and excluded cause you don't love parties and alcohol.
