Ok so Im a freshman and I don't think I should worry too much. But... I always thought I would be ok when it came time to apply to colleges but Im having second thoughts. I think My biggest problem is my grades. So here goes...( BTW my parents want me to get into an ivy or something equivalent )

My GPA is about a 3.6 right now and I don't think it's gonna change much. This is what im most worried about.
By senior year I will have played varsity football for four years, wrestled varsity for four years and have been captain for three ( possibility of being a section champ ), played varsity lacrosse for four years and have been captain for two. Been on the academic challenge c team for one year, b team for two and a team for one. ( our team is ranked 6th in the nation. ) Been in the high school band for four years, have had extremely high regents grades ( although I don't think regents grades are all that important are they? ) throughout highschool. Probably have taken multiple AP courses in science and math. I go to hastings high school which is a public school in westchester ny. Took two regents courses in middle school. I will probably have taken multiple Colombia Science Honors Program courses.

So... Assuming I do well, but not AMAZING with a capital A, on all my major tests do you think I will be in good shape?

Don't care about what your parents want. They don't have to live your life. Go where you want to go.

I'm not sure how you can predict whether or not you'll be a captain, but either way get off of here and come back when you're a junior or you'll miss high school fun. (I'm not being mean, just trying to be helpful.)

I've been told that a lot. But I really don't want to have pay tuition + room + board and as long as I get into a good school my parents pay it. So... You can see my motivation there. Also I have a small school that rarely gets athletes or anybody at all transferring. But I want to know if having A-'ish grades will really be a big problem. So I can make my decision to either do really well and try from now on or just have fun.

Do both, honestly. For my first few years I had a blast and still managed to keep an A- average. It wasn't until forces outside my control stopped that, but I'm sure you'll be able to balance. Don't focus solely on grades or you'll miss high school and you'll always regret that. Besides, you'll be able to get things such as scholarships to help you out.

Thanks for the help. This is really reassuring. Iv'e just been so panicky lately realizing how low my grades are. Or at least low compared to the people around me getting nothing but A's...

No problem. Now get off of here and don't come back until you have your license.

done :D (minimum count blahh)
