just a sophmore, but freaking out about college

Some might think it's a bit early to be worried about college now, but I REALLy messed up my average the first term of my sophomore year in high school. ( I am currently in the second term of sophomore year).

I attend an elite high school in New York City, the Bronx High School of Science
the first term average was a C, or about 77.
Freshman year, my overall avergae was an 88.
My current cumulative average is an 83.3.

This term, I am hoping to raise that 77 to an 88 again, and raise that 88 to a 90 the first term of my junior year, and 92 the second term of junior year.

I have a lot of extracurricular activies already, and am taking one AP ( AP world History). I think I will probably get a 4 on the exam in May.

*I am really worried about getting into any college with these grades...is my plan for improving my average good enough? * Please be brutally honest!

Also, do the colleges just look at the cumulative average on the transcript or do they look at the individual grades in every class you took or do they look at the average from each year of high school? I want to show that I improved!

I'm not looking to get into Harvard or anything...
my college goals are:

Oberlin
NYU
USC
UCLA
Northwestern
Emerson

Do I have a good chance at getting in to any of those schools?

do you have a college counselor or a college office that you can make a meeting with? i know it seems tempting to ask here, but honestly, no one knows or has the background/experience to say what your chances are. take it to a professional.good luck.

any more ideas?

I think you could stand to relax a little. Honest;y, from how you are talking you seem like the kind of person who will responsibly try to raise your average up. As a sophmore that is all you should really be worrying about. For my school colleges only see my final year grades but it differs from school to school.

Um.... do better academically?

Being organized helps. Find out exactly what a teacher's looking for in a class (whether they're the type who like students with opinions, or are big on memorization, etc.) and study accordingly. Go into extra help every chance you get. Keep a planner and schedule EVERYTHING into it. Make checklists, and be aware of what type of learning environment works best for you, whether it's group study, studying alone at the library, studying with music, etc.

Extracurricularly, for now, join anything that seems interesting and dabble. As you discover what you like doing, put more time into those activities and find ways to demonstrate commitment (working overtime, attending regularly, looking for out-of-school opportunities to participate).

YO....
You go to Bronx Science. I go to a lower ranking high school. My friend went to Bronx Science and she said that when her bus passed by my school every day, a pack of kids would throw eggs and rocks and yell 'nerds!' at them.
Don't worry your pretty little head. You will get into a good college.
