^^^^^^
I am currently waitlisted at another school. If i make the $500 deposit for NYU and end up attending another school, do I lose the $500?? (im too lazy to find the answer somewhere else) thanks.

Yes you will lose the deposit because it’s non-refundable.

Yes, my understanding is that basically all enrollment deposits are non-refundable. Schools do not want students changing their minds and throwing off their enrollment numbers.

The non-refundable deposit guarantees you a spot should you not get off the waitlist for another place you want to attend. The price you pay for the guarantee is a NON-REFUNDABLE enrollment deposit.

I’ll take your place!

I’m going to call this and ask too, but does anyone know what the procedure is exactly for if you’re waiting on a response from a school at which you were waitlisted? I know that you pay your deposit, but do you have to let them know that you may not enroll? And if you are admitted to the other school and choose not to go to NYU, do you then just call them and tell them you will not attend? It says on their website that you must withdraw all other applications, but I’m assuming this does not included wailisted ones. I was placed on the WL for three schools, but I’m only remaining on one.
