I went to the FAQ to get the "Big List" which was compiled several years ago and it appears to be lost. Was it moved to another site?

Hmmm. I wonder if it was created on a free yahoo geocities host. My website is through yahoo small business, and they have been sending emails to geocities users that the free geocities sites would be closed at the end of October.

Yes, it apparently was a Geocities site. I hope that someone can find a way to reproduce the information in those links; they were valuable.

Yeah, I just noticed that too. I recall seeing something recently that all Geocities sites were being closed by Yahoo. And that FAQ site was a Geocities site. it was not a CC site. A member had started that Geocities site and CC linked to the information as it was helpful. I don’t know if anyone has a copy of that site. If so, maybe there is a way for CC to post it as a thread on its own site here. If someone has a full copy, mention it here.

The site still exists, at least partially, as an archive. You can access the actual “big list” here:
[Colleges For Musical Theater Major Discussion FAQ](Colleges For Musical Theater Major Discussion FAQ)

You can find the additional pages as well. The key is figuring out what the pages were “named.” So the Big List ends in /biglist.html. The Choosing Audition Materials ends in /material.html. Voice range is /range.html. I took a stab at a few others and some I could not figure out. But at least here is a start!

AustinMTMom,
Thank you for finding that archive. For now, I will copy and paste the Big List of MT Colleges as a sticky post at the top of the MT Forum list of threads.

Then, if someone figures out how to find the archive link to each of the “pages/sections” of the FAQ, I can copy and paste them into another sticky thread at the top of this forum. It sounds as if you figured out how to find a few of the page links. I’ll wait until more of them are figured out and posted here and then copy the each section of the FAQ information into a sticky thread.

For now, I will post the Big List of MT Colleges as a stuck thread.

Thank you!

CollegeMom:

I knew this was coming. I tried to find Shauna, the creator of the site, some months ago and was unsuccessful. However, I copied the entire site and downloaded it onto my computer at home. We’re opening A DELICATE BALANCE tonight so I won’t be able to send it until tomorrow, and I’ll probably have to send it in chunks. But if you’re willing to make it a sticky post, that’s undoubtedly the best solution.

John,
I am delighted to learn that you saved it. I know a lot of people who are new here visit that very helpful resource as a starting point.

There is no hurry. When your show closes and there is time, if you could send it to me, I will then try to copy and paste each section into a post and put all the posts on a new Sticky Thread called FAQ. That should do it. I may not have time to get to it right away myself. Thank you so much for being a great resource here.

I posted the Big List as a sticky thread so far.

Best of luck with your production!

did you guys ever repost the FAQs?

BwayDreamer - The Geocities site was titled “Colleges for Musical Theater Major FAQ” the archive still exists but keep in mind that most of the info there is outdated and I think pretty much all the discussion on there now exists on here. So I don’t know how helpful it will be to you but you can view the archive here:
