Is the Honors Program worth it?

Hi, I my stats are high enough for me to be considered for the honors program that I kind don’t want to apply of that means that I am segregated from the rest of the student population. For example, we usually have to live in the Hume Hall which I heard is very anti social. Also, I would want to be in larger classes so it’ll be easier to make friends. Is there some kind of segregation between honors and non-honors students or is everyone at UF pretty much united/cohesive. I am currently in the IB program at my school and we are very segregated from the rest of the student population so it’s harder to meet friends and people because all of our classes are different and most of the people in the IB are really stuck up. is Is it like that at UF honors?

UF honors is nothing like your IB program. Most students will not even know you’re in the program. You do NOT have to live in Hume, and most of your classes will not be honor classes (you’ll take one or two honor classes a semester, at most). Once you get into your major (as a junior), very few if any will be honor classes.

UF’s honor’s program is optional, you can drop out at any time, and many of the best students don’t participate. It’s not for everyone. It’s not meant to segregate students, but to help students get more involved with campus (which you can do without being in the program)…

Read up on the program and determine if you want to participate or not. It’s in no way required.

Good Luck!
