Historically, Catholic Americans have leaned noticeably Democratic. Just throwing that out there.

^ How do you figure? In any case, from what I understand, Catholics in today's society tend to be more conservative.

Um, I figure from examining the voting patterns of Catholic Americans from the establishment of the current party system to now. Catholic, urban-dwelling, anti-prohibition immigrants were fanatical supporters of the Democratic Party, and that cutural loyalty still persists. It's only very recently that a majority of Catholics voted Republican (as the pro-life/pro-choice and gay marriage debates eclipsed social justice and community welfare as the key issues), and those numbers are starting to swing back in the other direction as the influence of the Christian Coalition grows weaker.

We are talking about more recent times, right?

Conservative.

We have a lot of hicks.

Yes, which is why I prefaced my sentence with "historically." It's getting really tiresome having to type the same idea over and over again.

I actually know a lot of Catholics who are pro-life Democrats. As it was explained to me, they are Democrats because a big part of being Catholic is giving back, charity type of thing. They want all people to be taken care of so they favor the Democrats. (Yes, I am overly simplifying it, but whatever.)

My school is, I believe, about 85% full of mindless sheep that think they're liberal but they just think they are because they either don't care, or everyone else says they are.

Yeah, same here. This bothers me to no end, and I wish somebody would MAKE them stop being so ignorant, learn about the issues, form their OWN opinions, etc. Lol.

Most of the liberals in my school give the rest of us a bad name. As in, "why don't you like George Bush?" "'Cuz he's stupid." That kind of thing.

But I guess dumb liberal is better than smart conservative, if there is such a thing.

Liberal. The students are liberal and the teachers are ultra-liberal haha.
Most students are actually pretty well informed because we do this thing called an "election simulation"

Welcome to the South.... Most kids are, like any good suburban high schooler, apathetic. Many of the remainders are staunch conservatives. They love Palin and seem to confuse Bible and Constitution (though I have nothing against Republicans in general). A select few are liberal.

My school is overwhelmingly conservative. In a 2004 mock election, Bush won with 75% of the vote, Ralph Nader came in 2nd with 14% of the vote, and Kerry took the remaining 11%. I go to a rural school where nearly everyone is a WASP.

Most, that I know, are Liberal.

We are going to hold a mock election on Nov. 3. My friend and I are setting the over-under for the margin of victory of McCain at 76%. I'm taking the over. Most of the people in my school (Catholic school) vote conservative and Republican because it was what they were taught their entire lives. Very few, including myself, are liberal.

On the other hand, the teachers are split about 50-50.

ugh i hate my school. Everyone is Pro-Obama, but if you were to ask them "why" they choose Obama, they wouldn't be able to answer you. It's just that being liberal seems so 'cool' in urban places. I also am liberal but i have reasons, most in my school do not.

it's split pretty evenly, though most of the seniors are liberal versus conservative.

We had a discussion about the debate and the economy in one of my classes the other day... a whopping FOUR people (in a class of over 20) participated...

Seems like at mine there's a ratio: 1.5-2.5 Obama supporters to every 1 McCain supporter.

Strange part is that I live in the South ....

I actually don't know. I guess that makes me even more apathetic than normal apathetic people.

Very liberal. 100 Obama supporters per McCain supporter would be an underestimate.
