<p>Yes they are, my friend under EA (whose last name starts with an S) didn't get his decision till about 8 p.m and later found out that it was alphabetical.</p>
<p>Veni, I start with a W and found out (deferred) an hour after it was schedule during EA. I think it's inconclusive.</p>

<p>Doubt it. My last name starts with A and I didn't receive my acceptance email until 6 PM.</p>
<p>its possible they stratify the lastnames, like they send the A's through K's in one go, then L-P's, etc etc.</p>
<p>D of my best friend, sur-initial B, emailed me at 6:21 to say she had her email and it was good news! She also got into Yale and is waiting to hear from Princeton.</p>
<p>A friend with a V last name got in, then about a half hour later a H last name got rejected, and I've not received anything yet - R last name, expecting a rejection.</p>
<p>Perhaps all the acceptances, A-Z, then all the rejections A-Z?</p>
