Also, who would best succeed in the Cornell pre-med setting (super grades, super tester, etc)

i've heard horror stories where ppl sitting beside you "accidentally" spills ink on ur notes, lol...hopefully they are just rumors

how abt the guards at the gorges after finals... =(

I've heard rumors about if you missed something the professor just said, and you ask the person next to you, than they'll give you incorrect information on purpose.

I heard it's actually worse in the 7-year med programs because they actually kick you out if you get below at 3.6 GPA or so.

I heard that if you recite an Iron Maiden song in latin in front of your bio professor, you get killed by a ninja...

At least you're not spreading silly rumors :)

Holy crap..maybe I should rethink my major. Why does everyone tell me pre-med is bad, no matter where you go? :(

oh god, pre-med sounds like it's full of the type of people I can't stand...
like jeez, why can't we all just help each other out instead of spilling ink and lying about information, that's ridiculously immature

looks like I might have to change majors lol

no one will purposely give you misinformation but a lot of pre-meds are reluctant to help if you ask for it. it's super cutthroat and you'll run into a lot of crazies in your bio classes. my friend is a TA for a pre-med bio class and he has a bunch of weird stories. you'll run into suck-ups, grade grubbers, and people who study 23 hours a day. you'll find this at any school, not just cornell.

Pre-meds aren't the smartest of the bunch, but they work super hard. I was pre-med for a while before doing something else. I have a biased view of it because I hate the typical pre-med student and their views on schooling and education. Don't let me discourage you too much.

:( i'm doing premed

I'm so not like that, I'm more like the smart type who doesn't like to work too hard and helps people when they ask and hopes that people do the same for me...looks like I won't last too long in that major

if you have patience then you'll be fine. I have a very low threshold for that type of stuff. Combine that with a lack of interest in a medical profession and I opted out.

I have patience but not for kids like that...I was hoping that ended with high school

Pre-med is going to suck over the next four years.

That's the spirit!! :p

You're going to loooooooove bio majors.

um. . i am just dumb. but.. there aint really a pre-med major, are they?
and (whether there is or not) if one's doing any science or engineering, wouldnt s/he face pre-meds anyway? and would pre-meds get same attitudes for those kids too???

nope, you're right, there is no "pre-med" major...but I was thinking about biological sciences, because a lot of pre-med kids major in bio

I hope all of you pre-meds survive and become wonderful doctors! I think pre-med has always been cut-throat. When I was in college (a bazillion years age), you could never leave your labs because other students desperate for a grade would sabotage your experiment or steal your data. Sad, really. I think this will exist as long as the criteria for med school admissions remains the same.
