Is the University of Arizona hard, academically?

I don't mind a challenge, but because it is one of the nations top 100 colleges I am just wondering if grading will be tougher and classes a little bit harder in comparison to ASU, NAU or any other mid level university.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Not much different if you choose to structure your program that way.

What do you mean?

Easy classes.

If you don't do Honors, and stick to the large lecture classes, there won't be much difference between ASU and UArizona. Even with somaller classes...the difference is negligible.

Sounds good guys, thanks for the help!

Anyone else with an opinion on this topic please chime in!

The biggest difference will arise from what your major is. Like if you are an astronomy major at UofA, then your classes will likely be more difficult than if you were in the same major at ASU because UofA's astronomy program is probably the best in the country.

If you are choosing a more generic major like business or psych, then there is probably not that much of a difference, unless one school is much more widely known than the other.

Thanks, that does make sense. I am currently accepted as undecided, but I am thinking of something like Media Arts. I was also possibly considering atmospheric sciences but that major has just been discontinued.

Thanks again

PBS aired a 2-part series a year or two back, and the Univ of Arizona was one of their focus schools. You can read the transcript at http://www.pbs.org/merrow/tv/transcripts/declining_by_degrees_part_1.pdf for part1 and http://www.pbs.org/merrow/tv/transcripts/declining_by_degrees_part_2.pdf for the 2nd part

mikemac,

Thanks for posting this. I'm really glad I read it. It gives a great view of the two very different sides of teachers and students and what they want and expect. Interesting...
