Hi,
My father and I have always been open-minded to the idea of attending a Prep school in the East..seeing as it opens up opportunities for myself athletically, and academically. My parents wanted me to stay in-state at the public school nearby for my first two years of high school..and I recently brought up the idea again to them, and they are still optimistic about it. I've recently discovered there is a deadline date, because of admissions/tests/etc., and it appears I have missed those. Is there any way I could still get in to a prestigious Prep school, and receive financial aid?

If you are a great athlete, anything is possible! Exeter or Andover takes late applications I believe.

As for how late is late? I heard someone applied in June and got in Exeter.

Exactly the kind of response I was hoping for! The initial reason for attending one of these schools was to play on their hockey team…but seeing as I’ve been an excelling student all of my life, persuing academics there is something we’re also looking forward to. Thanks!

Admission is possible “second round” but usually financial aid is already allocated. Check the dates for SSAT/ISEE, and the applications take some time…decide if you might be better off starting next fall applying for the following year if you need FA. The schools are a little busy right now with first round applicants, but will be easier to contact after March 10, and mid-April is when second round spots begin to open up.

FA is pretty much a must, so if that’s out of the question…then I guess I’ll wait until next year

mrzacharius- You can apply late but you will not recieve any FA and in my opinion since I am a hockey player too, Exeter and Andover don’t at all have the best hockey teams out of the most prestigous prep schools

Decades ago, a friend of mine was admitted to PEA halfway through the school year. Don’t know if FA was an issue.

Exeter and Andover weren’t even in the top 3 choices hahaha. Thanks everyone, I’ll look into the situation more when my dad gets home.

Schools have attrition. A girl recently left one school to enroll in another because her sister was there. It happens - but the FA issue is tricky. It’s mostly gone. The people you usually hear about getting in “off cycle” are full pays.

But it doesn’t hurt to ask, now does it? If the answer is no, you are no worse off.
