Is there a good chance I'll be accepted?

*Male/white/first generation college student
*3.7 weighted GPA/Also says my UC GPA is 3.6
*1820 SAT- 580M/600W/640CR
*Only 30 hours of volunteer/community service
*Varsity soccer 2 years/Captain my senior year
*AP Euro with a 3 on the exam/3 honors classes
*Taking 3 AP classes my senior year; calculus, chemistry, and literature
*Majoring in Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering

I didn’t think UCSC had a chemical engineering major.

Sorry you’re right, I copied my information from another thread and forgot to delete the chemical engineering part. I applied for biochem and then just chemistry, are these competitive majors at Santa Cruz?

Looks like you’ll get accepted. My scores were similar to your’s Except I only took two AP classes and I got in fine. I’m not sure if the biochem and chem majors are competitive, but I do know that the classes get filled up pretty quickly, especially the beginning classes. So If you do get accepted, make sure to enroll in your class as soon as possible because I know lots of people that were not able to get in them for the first semester!

Thanks for the information and advice, it’s much appreciated. What would you recommend for housing?

I live in Merrill and I really like it. I’m a physics major and most of my friends are in crown so living in merrill gives me the chance to “get away” from all the science stuff if I get overwhelmed but it’s also close enough to crown so that I don’t feel disconnected. I would pick between crown and merrill because 1) our dining hall is the best 2) everyone I’ve met is super nice 3) the 'theme’s for merrill and crown are more interesting than the other colleges (I think). Warning though, If you pick crown the rooms are a bit smaller than the rooms at merrill.
