We have lost my son's National Merit Scholar application and need a replacement.

On September 15, a huge windstorm hit our city and a massive tree fell from the neighbor's yard onto our home-- destroying the roof. We quickly pitched lots of householod documents in plastic bins to protect them from rain. Ironically, there was never any rain..... about 300,000 people in our area lost power for a week to 10 days. Local schools were closed for the entire week following the storm.

Well, now we have power back, the tree has finally been removed, the roof has been stabilized and covered (although it will be months before recontruction is complete) and we have unpacked all the crap we hurriedly packed up. But, I cannot find the application! We seem to have all of the other items in the packet, except the application itself and the white cover with the peel and stick label with his name on it.

If it isn't available to print out somewhere, I will call the college board in the morning to see what can be done, but I am hoping it exists out there on the internet somewhere.....

I didn't find it in my search of the College Board site, but I know many here have found documents I didn't think were publicly availalbe. So, any one have a link or a web address or an idea of where I could try to find it?

I seriously doubt that app is available online, as you have to qualify to apply. Just call the Nat'l Merit Org on Monday and tell them what you posted. Better yet, start w/your S' high school counselor. The HS should be able to get you another copy under the circumstances.

Call the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The number is 847-866-5100. We had to call last spring because my daughter hadn't decided what university she was going to attend by the deadline for declaring where you needed the scholarship money. They were extremely nice about it. Good luck!

No is the simple answer. We typed and then cut and pasted the essay....with majic tape.
a Pain but....as I recall it is also a tan color. I did ask when we did it two years ago....The school
may have an extra copy ...

Oh, I remember that about a year ago. My D went at it with Elmers and tape and it was a big brown gooey mess. She included a typed version of her big essay just in case. Best of luck to everyone in the throes of this and congratulations on your extremely high achieving kids.

I would contact the school guidance counselor to get the 2 different numbers that were on the sticker as you will probably need to give those numbers to NMSC when you call them. Good luck and I hope you haven't lost anything else in the disaster.

I'm sure the school can get you another one. My S's school never sent the app home at all. They kept it and we sent in the info. All attaching, signing, etc. was done in the GC's office. At the time I thought that was crazy, but maybe not.....

Thanks all--- I called the College Board this morning and explained the situation-- the phone rep was very sympathetic and said another application would be sent out, possibly as soon as today.

Thanks! As it turned out, as soon as I requested a duplicate, the original turned up in a container I felt sure I looked through several times already...... The school had only give us a copy of the student section. When the duplicate arrived, it was interesting to see the whole packet.
