Is there a way to replace failed classes taken at a UC from a CC?

Hi guys,

I spent 1 year at a UC and did not too well there so I decided to go to a community college. I did not pass a couple classes at the UC and retook them at my community college because I was told from my adviser that I could retake the failed classes at my community college to replace the grade on my UC transcript.

However, after contacting my adviser a couple of years later they informed me that classes taken outside of their UC school would not impact that GPA at all. They're basically telling me that i'm SOL right now and that when I apply as a transfer student I'm going to have to include my UC transcript with the failed classes on it as well as my community college transcript that includes the same classes but passed.

How will this affect my GPA? I haven't been able to contact all the schools yet to ask them about my situation because I'm still waiting to hear back from my UC from the last email I sent them. Is my GPA going to be a combination of my UC + CC transcript? How will my transfer school (a CSU) going to look at this?

Anyways I'm pretty upset at the situation because my adviser told me the wrong information. I probably should have double checked with someone else but I didn't exactly want to spend another years worth of tuition making up classes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Another question is, do I even have to send my UC transcript? I just received an email back from my adviser and they basically are saying it’s up to my own “ethics” if I decide to send the transcript over. I’m kind of confused… so I don’t have to send them my transcript? Is there any way for the transfer school to know I took classes at another university besides my community college?

Not sending a transcript with negatively impact your admission to a university. They can revoke your admission if they find out that you omitted a transcript to be sent to them. Send the transcript anyway. Yes, there’s a way your school can find out that you took other classes at other colleges by the National Student Clearinghouse.
