<p>Anyway, the College Board ACT ranges (on their College Search pages) I see either have 30 on the minimum or middle for HYPS schools.</p>
<p>I would retake for a 33+ for HYPS.</p>

<p>a 33+ for HYPS is ideal but not essential. If something else about you is fantastic you can get away with a lower score, and 30 isn't that much lower.</p>
<p>And if you've got something else going for you, a 33 makes you more like a clear admit (kinda sorta) instead of a competitive person in the pack.</p>
<p>30 isn't going to hurt you, and with it you can definitely have a chance if other things are strong as well. If you know you could score higher, you might retake because it may help, but a higher score is by no means essential</p>
