So I'm taking AP Physics 1 next year, and I'm fairly certain that I'll do very well on the test. I took a few practice AP Physics B tests, and I was close to perfect on almost all of them. I was wondering, If I am lucky enough to get a perfect score on the AP Physics 1 test next year, is there any sort of scholarship or reward? Would it make a difference on an application to college? Thanks!

Monetary reward/scholarship, probably not. There are such things as the AP Scholar awards, etc that you can put in your honors/awards section on the Common App. I don’t think it will make that big of a difference, though a 5 can’t hurt for sure. I even forgot to report my AP scores for one of the colleges that accepted me. I feel like if everything else on your app is good, 4s and 5s just contribute to the idea that you’re a good student even more, but don’t really anything extra.

I believe they do tell you if you get a perfect score - the Twitter account for AP testing director (Trevor Packer) was a wealth of info this summer - and he did mention that 1 or 4 or some number of test takers got perfect scores. He sometimes mentioned that they would get notified of their perfect score.

But I am not aware of any monetary reward. I think you’ll just need to be satisfied with a hearty handshake and the warm glow of success.
