Is there any way for me to replace my grade in a course?

Hey fam,

I got a B in the first semester of a course, and a C in a course due to a lot of family issues that made me getting a good grade in that class particularly hard. I really want to find a way to replace that course because right now, it is really bringing down my GPA and I really want it to disappear. Is there any way I could replace the grade, or somehow make it go away? The rest of the grades for my freshman year were in the high 95+ range except for this particular course. How can I fix this grade??

Check with your counselor to see if you retake the course if it will replace the grade. Then you have to figure out how and when to schedule the retake. Really, one B and one C won’t keep you out of college.

@NorthernMom61 I really want to get into a good college, preferably UCLA. I feel like I have a good chance, if these grades weren’t pulling me down.

In my school, the answer would be no… there’s no rewriting the past.

But check with your guidance counselor. Only he/she can tell you your school’s policy.

Work hard, and do the best you can from this day forward. That’s likely all you can do, but as @bjkmom has pointed out, check with your counselor on their policy.

UC’s will allow you to repeat the exact class for grade replacement. AS stated above, check if your HS will allow the repeat.

UCs also don’t consider grades from freshman year of high school in your GPA.

@guineagirl96: Great catch . Didn’t see grades were from Freshman year.

@hermionepotter99 here is the UC GPA:
