Is there anything else I can do to improve my chances to college?

Hi☺ I’m a 10th grader currently studying in Taiwan, and I hope to study in the states for college. I started preparing for the SAT about a year ago, but I can’t really see any improvements. so here are the ways i prepare for the SAT, and hope you guys can give me some advices:) thanks!

SAT:
I memorize about 7 vocabs a day, and keep reviewing the old ones. but to be honest i keep forgetting them so I don’t really know what to do. Also, I’ve done about 2 full practice tests and both of them are disasters. I have much more confidence in math but I seriously don’t know how to improve my critical reading section.

I plan to take 2 subject tests but I’m not really sure which ones I should take.

SCHOOL:
In Taiwan, we don’t grade GPAs so I don’t really know how it works. I score about 85 since the 9th grade, and rank at about 20 (there are 190 students in my year).

I have exactly one year till the SAT and I hope I can improve my chances to college.

Thanks☺

Everyone learns differently but maybe you’ll remember the words more easily if you make yourself right them in sentence or story. When I’m learning French in school that seems to help me. Also just writing a lot in the other language will help because you’ll have to keep looking up stuff to expand your vocab. and hopefully you remember them as you go along!

Do you have Sparknotes or Cliffnotes in Taiwan or anything like that? If you do you can read some American classics in English and then read the notes in your language to see if you really understand what you’re reading. It might take a little time though.

Hope this helps and good job getting a big jump on this! Hope you do well!
